Actually all of the operating systems are good in their own perspective.
Such as,
Linux:
Linux is based on the basis of kernel and users' freedom of choices and also to mention that
Linux is not an OS. It is a kernel. That is developed by Hardware's very own capability. So you can use that to improve your coding skills or test the maximum limit of the software in the very hard use of you hardware. It also helps to observe the maximum limit of your hardware.
Windows:
Windows is also a renowned OS platform. It will give you pretty much all the feature to enjoy except testing your hardware own capability or limit. Because it has it's own administrator although you can overcome it but it is not the aim of Windows OS. But you can have a great environment of usual, industrial work and also gaming.
Mac:
Mac is a fixed OS platform. It is great for official and industrial production work such as graphics designing , music making and data management. You have to keep this thought in mind that you will have zero capability of customizing the OS as your will and it is the most expensive OS and it doesn't support cross platform. On the contrary, the money you expense in buying a Mac will not be ruined if you are the person of industrial and personal casual work and you will have a great graphical platform than any other OS. But there is a thumb down for the gamer because it is not designed for gaming.

At last, after this discussion, you decide which is the best OS for your own environmental perspective.

IDM - What does that mean? Is it Internet Download Manager or what? Many people were saying that in linux everything is faster even download, then why it will need IDM?

am i going in right director? or am i making fool of myself?

Are you are programmer or coder ? then why linux would feel friendly to you or any of us? For the same reason, there are many OS out there based on Linux category, they also try to put some graphical interface to feel like we are running windows but it is not.

But still LINUX is popular to certain group of people..... just like MAC OS is....
